Former Vera Veep Returns to Lead Organization

The New York-based research organization Vera Institute of Justice, which include juvenile justice among its priorities, has named Nicholas Turner to succeed Michael Jacobson as president and director. Jacobson announced his plans to step down after more than eight years of leadership.

Nick_Turner_FullTurner, currently a managing director at The Rockefeller Foundation, was previously the vice president and chief program officer at Vera. He will be the fifth president of the 52-year-old organization.

“I am honored to return to Vera and take its helm at this important moment,” said Turner. “For the past five decades, Vera’s pioneering and evidence-driven work has shaped the administration of justice and improved lives.”

Vera’s central programs include its Center on Family Justice and Center on Youth Justice
