Sophi Marsaw-Nevarez

Sophi Marsaw-Nevarez (she/her) is a Latinx multimedia artist based in Sacramento, CA. Marsaw-Nevarez’s activist art explores recurring themes of isolation, interpersonal violence, resistance of authoritarian systems and race within the framework of the Foster System. The punitive isolation that is imposed upon youth labeled as “a danger to others” within the system is the focus of her art. She has been recognized for her work in digital and medium format photography as well as videography. She is currently majoring in sociology and is employed at the Mayor's Office of Sacramento.
