Earlier this year, sweeping child welfare legislation was passed with the Family First Prevention Services Act. Key components of this new law are already being created ahead of its October 2019 implementation deadline, but what do states and agencies really need to do to prepare for this?
A webinar offered by The Imprint will help individuals and organizations to discern that information. This law is something The Imprint has been covering long before it was ever proposed.
“In fact, Imprint Editor-in-Chief John Kelly has been at it for years,” said Daniel Heimpel, president of Fostering Media Connections, the parent organization of The Imprint. “Just take a look at this story from 2013 that describes the deep roots of child welfare finance reform and Family First.”
Through ongoing reporting, The Imprint staff understands that people across the country have serious questions about how this dramatic change to how foster care is financed will be implemented.
In the webinar, Kelly and Heimpel will discuss what they know so far about Family First Act implementation, big questions that remain, and how states are reacting.
The webinar will take place Dec. 13 at 1 p.m. EST. Details will be sent to registered attendees a few days prior to the event. The Imprintis asking for a suggested $10 donation to help support the organization’s current NewsMatch campaign, which means that any donation will be doubled. As a nonprofit organization, this campaign allows The Imprintto continue coverage of federal child welfare policy.
In addition, if individuals choose to donate $51.90, they will receive an annual subscription (normally $79.95) to The Imprintwhere they can access stories like these:
