L.A. County Foster Youth Celebrate Academic Excellence
Growing up with a homophobic father, Edgar Quintero had a difficult time building the confidence to own her transgender identity. At home, she was forced to suppress her true self. At school, she was teased for everything from the way she talked to the way she walked, Quintero said.
Resilient and Remarkable Graduates Dreaming Big
This annual event, now in its 26th year, is a collaboration among the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, DCFS, the Los Angeles County Probation Department, the Rotary Club of Los Angeles, the Teague Family Foundation and United Friends of the Children.
