Grant Announced: September 3, 2013
The Walmart foundation has awarded 1.29 million to the Institute for America’s Health (“IAH”) to expand their school based childhood obesity prevention program. The program, called WAY (Wellness, Academics & You) will be expanded to 30 new schools in Atlanta, Washington DC, Chicago and initiatives throughout the state of Alabama. The WAY program integrates health and nutrition information/activities into core curriculum. The grant will also be used to implement healthy lunch options and school gardens.
IAH is a 10 year old research based nonprofit focused on healthy living located in Tallahassee, Florida.
