The Robinhood Foundation announced it will fund the expansion of the Middle School Quality Initiative (MSQI)—a comprehensive program focused on strengthening literacy instruction in New York City middle schools. Robinhood will contribute $1.5 million to help fund the expansion of the pilot program into 20 additional schools.
The MSQI reaches thousands of New York City public school students by providing 2 ½ more hours per day of tutoring and educational activities. The program enables middle-schoolers to progress towards meeting the Common Core literacy standards and seeks to reduce the number of people in poverty by increasing literacy rates.
