The Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare released its 2013 Annual Child Abuse Report, which provides statistical data on child abuse cases. The report shows that 2013 had the most suspected child abuse claims of all time but had a lower number of substantiated child abuse cases than 2012. There were 38 confirmed child fatalities in 2013, five more than last year. In total, the state’s child abuse hotline registered 26,944 calls for suspected child abuse or neglect.
