This issue brief summarizes a 2011 conference co-sponsored by Chapin Hall and the Harvard Law School Child Advocacy Program on race and child welfare. Specifically, current evidence is presented to describe the black/white maltreatment gap, to analyze the high representation of black children in foster care, and to explore appropriate policy responses.
