The Casey Journalism Center on Children & Families, an organization based at the University of Maryland, announced the winners of the 2013 Casey Medals for Meritorious Journalism.
The medals are awarded by a large panel of judges to celebrate the best reporting on children and families each year. Click here to read a list of the winners, with links to their work.
Twelve of the winners will receive $1,000 at an awards ceremony in Washington, D.C., on Sept. 26. Two honorees will receive additional prizes of $5,000 from the America’s Promise Alliance, a coalition of more than 350 national organizations dedicated to improving the lives of children and youth.
The medals program is funded by the Baltimore-based Annie E. Casey Foundation, and the two $5,000 top prizes are supplied by America’s Promise.
