The Ruddie Memorial Youth Foundation has announced the availability of a pre-application for their next round of youth innovation grants. The application will be available on their website on March 1st, 2014. The grantees are announced in late June.
The foundation awards innovative youth serving organizations with grants of up to $25,000 for programs that help underprivileged urban youth reach their full potential. The foundation defines Innovative programs or services as “uncommon, untested or otherwise unconventional.” The foundation funds programs or services that are outside of current customary practices.
The foundation funds programs in select geographic locations, these include: greater metropolitan areas of Baltimore, Boston, Los Angeles, Madison WI, Milwaukee, Philadelphia, San Francisco, and Washington, D.C.
Past recipients include:
- An incentivized youth savings program
- An intensive weekend tutoring program for at-risk students
- A dynamic and innovative leadership development program serving at-risk girls
- A strategy for providing talented, experienced teachers with support, incentives and a professional environment to help make teaching in low-performing schools a viable long-term employment option
