Tarrant County Juvenile Services (TCJS) is seeking proposals to provide Family Preservation services to juveniles and their families involved in the juvenile justice system.
Through the provision of intensive, in-home services, the objective of Family Preservation is to assist families to enhance family functioning, targeting improved communications, non-violent problem resolution, access to resources for basic needs, and skills development. Family Preservation targets families of juveniles under supervision by the department and those who are at risk of removal from the home.
At a minimum, program services should include the following:
- Clinical assessment by a master level clinician
- In-home, goal-directed family therapy
- Parenting education and parenting skills training
- Support and educational groups
- Household/living skills development (in-home)
- Role modeling
- Coping and skills training (for youth and parents) to include topics such as communication, dispute resolution, anger control, cooperation
- Anger management classes
Vocational counseling and assistance for youth and parents (as appropriate) - Intensive outpatient chemical dependency component for youth and family members
- Health care assistance
- Transportation assistance
- Ability to provide services targeting family violence issues
- Networking services (linking families to services)
- Explanation of the capacity to access shelter/respite care
- A recognized protocol to engage families in services
