The Bureau of Land Management is seeking contractors to implement environmental youth programs within the Lower Potomac Field Station (LPFS) area – in Virginia and Maryland.
This project will develop partnerships with community organizations and at the same time provide a summer program for at risk and disadvantaged inner city children. The goal of this project is to work with socioeconomic groups that are underrepresented in natural resources. These students will learn about the Bureau of Land Management mission and work and explore local public lands. In addition, students will be introduced to healthy lifestyles. A number of overnight camp outs will be conducted at the LPFS and National Park Service sites. Students will participate in biking, hiking, canoeing, swimming and other outdoor activities.
