The Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DHMH), Center for Injury and Sexual Assault Prevention (CISAP) is soliciting competitive applications from institutions statewide to work in partnership with the Rape and Sexual Assault Prevention Program to enhance campus- based sexual violence prevention activities.
The purpose of disseminating awards is to increase programming designed to provide more comprehensive campus-based sexual violence prevention activities utilizing the principles of effective prevention and informed by the best available evidence.
DHMH will provide administrative oversight regarding application compliance with Rape Prevention and Education grant mandates, and the funded institutions will ensure compliance with, coordination of, and technical assistance and evaluation for any and all selected sub- grantee(s) it contracts with regarding program implementation of approved prevention activities. The main goal of the College Initiative is to enhance sexual violence prevention efforts on participating college and university campuses in Maryland.
The target population for the implementation of the College Initiative includes individuals, organizations, and other communities or groups associated with college campuses.
Available Funding
Awards will be made for the funding period on or about September 16, 2016. Funds must be spent by January 31, 2017. Up to two institutions will be funded up to $10,000 per institution.
Eligibility and Funding Requirements
Offeror/institution must be a public or private 4-year college or university. Funds may be used to cover costs of personnel, consultants, supplies (including curriculum materials), grant-related travel, and other grant-related costs.
Funding CANNOT be used to purchase food, furniture, or facilitate activities that provide direct counseling, treatment, or advocacy services to victims or perpetrators of sexual violence. Funds CANNOT be used for media or awareness campaigns that exclusively promote awareness about where to receive victim services.
SCOPE OF WORK
The selected Offerors will:
- Develop an action plan to address sexual violence on their respective campuses.
- Engage students, faculty, and staff in sexual violence prevention activities.
- Implement primary prevention strategies to prevent sexual violence before it occurs.
- Evaluate implementation efforts as appropriate.
- Collaborate with the Rape and Sexual Assault Prevention Program by participating in 1recommended or DHMH-supported training per funding cycle (i.e. Bringing in the Bystander) and statewide evaluation activities as directed by funding source.
