The State of Maine Department of Health and Human Services, and Office of Child and Family Services, has a requirement for specialized supports and services to youth and young adults residing in Androscoggin and Cumberland Counties, ages 16-25, currently experiencing, or at risk of developing, serious mental illness and co-occurring disorder.
The Moving Forward Initiative (part of the federal, Now Is the Time Program) will address education, housing, employment, relationships, and other identified needs of youth and young adults by using evidence-based and evidence-informed practices. Many of these youth and young adults will have experienced trauma from domestic violence, child welfare and juvenile justice involvement, and homelessness. Some will also have been displaced from their native countries.
