The United States Department of Education is seeking contractors to create and manage College Assistance Migrant Programs (CAMP). The purpose of CAMP is to provide academic and financial support to help migrant and seasonal farmworkers and members of their immediate family complete their first year of college and continue in post secondary education.
The Department is particularly interested in programs that address STEM (Â science,
technology, engineering, and mathematics). Programs that provide increased access to engaging coursework and/or career exploration/prep in those areas will be given priority. Priority will also be given to programs that focus on populations that are underrepresented in STEM careers, including minorities, individuals with disabilities, and women.
Services may include mentoring, counseling, and tutoring in ways that motivate participants to pursue postsecondary education in the areas of STEM. Similarly, applicants could consider increasing students’ preparedness for study and careers in STEM through activities such as referrals to STEM-oriented work-based learning experiences, exposure to academic programs and careers in STEM-related fields,
and providing support services.
