This Department of Health and Human Services seeks applications for Connecting Kids to Coverage Outreach and Enrollment grant funding.
The Connecting Kids to Coverage Outreach and Enrollment Cooperative Agreements grant program provides funding opportunities to reduce the number of children who are eligible for Medicaid and CHIP, but are not enrolled, and improve retention of eligible children who are currently enrolled.
Grants awarded under the cooperative agreement will fund activities aimed at educating families to the availability of free or low-cost health coverage under Medicaid and CHIP, identifying children likely to be eligible for these programs, and assisting families with the application and renewal process.
Applicants are encouraged to consider any of the following outreach strategies:
- Engaging schools in outreach, enrollment and retention activities
- Bridging health coverage disparities by reaching out to subgroups of children with lower than average health coverage rates (e.g. teens, Hispanics, or children in rural areas)
- Establishing and developing application assistance resources to provide high quality, reliable Medicaid/CHIP enrollment and renewal services in local communities
