The Probation Department of Santa Clara County seeks a contractor to manage a youth advisory council (YAC) for former system-involved young people.
The members of the YAC will work in partnership with the department and currently incarcerated youth to give youth a voice.
The Council will be engaged in yet to be determined activities and will be led by a coordinator who will be teamed with Probation staff to develop, create and facilitate meaningful ways to engage former system involved youth in system processes and practices. The coordinator will facilitate groups, attend appropriate trainings and develop protocols and processes by which to engage and sustain the YAC. The department is invested in listening, learning and implementing relevant recommendations.
The goal is to create a meaningful space for young people to be heard and be involved. The involvement should develop and enhance their leadership skills and create opportunities for education and engagement with stakeholders in the juvenile justice system and with system-involved youth. Incentives and compensation will be provided to YAC participants with a specific allocation of funds included as part of the proposal maximum amount.
