The County of Orange Social Services Agency, Family Self-Sufficiency Division, in collaboration with the Heal Care Agency, will soon be issuing a Request for Proposal from a collaborative between public and private non-profit organizations to provide employment, support services, and refugees health assessments to refugees in Orange County. The requested services shall be provided through the Refugee Social Services and Refugee Health Services Programs.
Refugee Social Services (RSS) is a cooperative team effort involving County and contracted staff. The goal of RSS is to establish an environment wherein there will be a teaming between all staff providing services to assist clients in overcoming barriers, and achieving and/or maintaining stable employment and economic self-sufficiency. RSS is the process by which an Employment Specialist, Mentor, and/or Job Counselor works directly the client to assess the client’s education, work experience and vocational skills, and subsequently determines the appropriate means for the client to obtain employment as quickly as possible.
Refugee Health Services (RHS), utilizing a contractor, provides appropriate services to entrants that are eligible for refugee health assessments through the State of California Refugee Health Assessment Program (RHAP). To address specific health challenges of refugees, health assessments are completed within ninety (90) days of refugees’ and other eligible individuals’ arrival to the US, date parole status is granted, date asylum status is granted, or date of certifications for victims of trafficking.
