San Diego Unified School District (SDUSD) seeks to partner with multiple organizations with demonstrated academic and/or social emotional learning results for middle school students and families whose socioeconomic status is currently low income.
Applicants shall submit proposals that will support students’ and their families’ learning and engagement with the intention of improving students’ academic and social emotional trajectories through middle, high school, and college or career.
The partnership shall focus on middle school students and their families qualifying for Title I funding, or those schools serving a population composed of at least forty percent of students who qualify for free or reduced lunch.
Applicants shall detail how they intend to engage in educating and supporting families in practicing high-impact strategies at home as part of a district-wide strategy to support each and every family to be empowered to support their student’s learning.
Applicants shall plan and provide detail on how they would communicate initiatives with families, including district family engagement surveys, community involvement days such as Design Thinking, and other initiatives that support families. In coordination with district staff, monthly meetings shall be scheduled to engage “learning together” with district staff and all applicants providing services for this program. It is expected applicants shall attend a minimum of two sessions, and assist in the implementation of a family engagement survey.
