In a nutshell: Daniel Lurie, CEO and Founder, started the Tipping Point Foundation in 2005 after working at the Robinhood Foundation in New York City. Like the Robinhood Foundation, 100 percent of the money donated goes directly to non-profit organizations, while the board underwrites all operating and fundraising costs. There is no endowment, and each year they begin fund raising from zero.
The foundation hand-picks its recipients based on in-depth site visits and analysis. Once funded, organizations receive on-going support in areas such as technology, fundraising, and strategic planning. Additionally, all of Tipping Point’s grants are unrestricted, allowing organizations to invest in strategies and operations that best serve their clients.
