Jeffrey Raikes, a leader at The Microsoft Corporation and eventual president, retired in 2008 and joined the Gates Foundation as CEO.
The foundation funds programs for youth of all ages, however, takes a particular interest in the critical early years of adolescence – ages 10-14 – when the rate of risky behaviors and disengagement from school accelerates.
Application Process: The Raikes Foundation accepts proposals by invitation only for the Student Agency and Youth Homeless strategies. Guidelines and application instructions for the Youth Program Quality Initiative will be available in 2013.
