In a nutshell: The foundation was begun in Los Angeles by three members of the Roth Family, who owned Louis Roth Clothes, a family business. The foundation was created in 1966, after the death of the founders and the sale of the business.
Guided by initial values of social justice and civil rights, the foundation continues to address issues of inequities and access. Currently, two generations of the Roth family are involved in the leadership of the foundation.
The foundation places an emphasis on youth development. Grants in this focus area concentrate on two main ventures: Dropout prevention in the Boyle Heights and Pacoima areas, and Girls Empowerment through such programs as educational enrichment, leadership development, tutoring, mentoring, and financial literacy.
How to Apply:
Grant seekers should submit a Letter of Inquiry to the Executive Director. If the request meets the guidelines of the Foundation and is of interest, the grant seeker will be invited to formally apply for a grant and a Grant Application will be sent.
