In a nutshell:
Edward W. Hazen, an executive with the Curtis Publishing Company of Philadelphia, and later a Connecticut state senator, established the Foundation in 1925. At its inception, Edward Hazen focused on education and development of young people.
The Foundation has continued the vision of its founder, always keeping youth as the focus, despite changing social issues. Today, one of the foundation focuses is on organizing youth and communities of color to advocate for the end to structural inequities due to race and class. They also fund programs that address equity and achievement in public education, with special attention given to youth led projects.
