All current and former foster youth are invited to participate in a nationwide art celebration that will culminate in an exhibition in the nation’s capital.
National nonprofit iFoster will send art kits to all registrants of the National Community Art Project. On May 7, at an online event featuring SNAP’s new social platform Ohyay!, renowned artist and former foster youth ENKONE will be unveiling a mural celebrating foster youth and sharing feedback on the art produced by those who register and use their kits to create a piece.
The art produced as part of the project will then be included with ENKONE’s mural when it is displayed on the National Mall in Washington, D.C.
This is the second national artistic convening for foster youth by iFoster. In December of 2020, for the Great iFoster Bake Off, the organization sent holiday decoration kits and Pop Tarts to more than 800 participating foster youth. More than 500 youth have already registered for this year’s art project.
The hard deadline to sign up is April 24. After that, iFoster will continue to take registration until either April 29 or when 2,500 participants have signed up. People can register for up to four artists by clicking here; for caregivers with more than four young artists to include, click here for group registration.
