Lino Peña-Martinez

Lino Peña-Martinez was in the foster care system in CA from the age of 5 onward. He studied the environment, art, and architecture at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Peña-Martinez currently lives in Washington, DC where he works for Congress in the House of Representatives on energy issues as a Policy Analyst. He also is the Board President of Sun Scholars Incorporated, a nonprofit aimed at alumni in care and college in the state of Connecticut. He also coordinates digital operations for Unbelievably Resilient, an organization run by alumni dedicated to rewriting the narrative of what it means to come from or be part of the child welfare system. Peña-Martinez has the privilege of training social workers around the country on using the Connect Our Kids permanency software and uplifting many other transformative trailblazing social initiatives. He says the foundation of his resilience and personhood is service to others by way of time, energy, patience, flexibility, and a whole lot of unconditional love.
