Hugo Amaya is a devoted human services professional who is intimately familiar with the impediments of prolonged incarceration. As a substance abuse counselor and case manager for two respectable institutions, Amaya utilizes his personal experience, social skills, and deft communication abilities to aid those under his care in a range of modalities that address major domains such as housing assistance, occupational pursuits, educational endeavors, and mental health treatment. He also trains other professionals in the industry who are unfamiliar with the justice-impacted demographic and aids them on their quest toward intercultural sensitivity. Amaya is skilled in the areas of psycho-education, public speaking, and expository writing. He is currently an undergraduate student at CSU Fresno, pursuing his baccalaureate degree in psychology.
