Ashley Calderon currently attends the University of California, Berkeley in pursuit of a degree in sociology. Calderon served as a peer mentor for foster youth attending Norco College and as an advisor for high school students in the Corona-Norco Unified School District. She is also a former intern for State Senator Connie Leyva who oversees the 20th Senate District in Pomona, CA. She is continuing her advocacy work by identifying and proposing solutions that address social determinants of health especially through her involvement in the Reproductive Health Equity Project for Foster Youth, a California based initiative. Calderon uses her lived experience as her motivation to pursue research about the child welfare system.
