Amal Kharoufi, 22, is a Youth Action Researcher with YouthNPower: Transforming Care, an initiative of the Children’s Defense Fund-New York. Kharoufi has lived in foster care since she was 8. She brings her lived expertise to city, state and federal advocacy for young people with child welfare experience, uplifting their needs for housing, economic support, educational and employment opportunities, and health and well-being in partnership with the national Journey to Success campaign.
